Even when I am not working in my studio or making art, I am living the creative life. I am blessed to be able to share this with the people in my life. On this particular day, Kayden and I decided to make slime. There is absolutely nothing better than getting messy with a three year old. It's liberating and so very fulfilling.
Here's a recipe for making slime. Take a couple of hours off from your busy life and just have fun. I promise you will feel so much better about every little piece of your life.
Kayden's Silly Slime
In a bowl, mix 1/2 cup clear glue and 1/2 cup of water. Mix it completely until the water and the glue are one. Having your little helper measure and pour is a great way to include them in the process, and it is great for talking about numbers. This is also a good way to work on coordination skills. Add glitter and food coloring to the glue mixture. Kayden chose to add A LOT of glitter and black food coloring, because black was his favorite color that day. It turned out really pretty. When the sun hit the glitter, it was like a dark rainbow. We loved this combination, but we are excited about trying lots of different colors in the future. In another bowl, place a 1/2 cup of liquid starch. Slowly pour the glue mixture into the liquid starch and stir with a wooden spoon. Make sure to get all of the glue out of the bowl. As the slime gets thicker, switch to mixing with your hands. Don't be afraid. It washes off. Put your slime in a clean dry bowl and play.
