Recently, there has been quite a bit of controversy about Lapis Lazuli. Here's what I know about the shortage of Lapis out there in the marketplace. The largest mine in Afghanistan has been taken hostage by militia and the Taliban. Lapis is still being mined, but the price of the stone has risen astronomically. For both of these reasons, I am no longer purchasing this beautiful stone. I do have one piece of Lapis left in the store which was purchased before the mines in Afghanistan came under siege.
